Uber app update lets iOS 16 users view ride route on lock screen
When Apple introduced the Live Activities feature at WWDC 2022, they used the Uber app as an example to demonstrate how iOS 16 could display all trip information directly on the lock screen, without the need to open the app.
This impressed many people at the time, but the ironic thing is that Uber spent months without including the functionality in their app.
Only now, four months after the feature was made available, Uber has released a new app update that supports the function.
The app has been completely redesigned and features a new visual design to try to make it easier to use, something the company had lost in the last year.
Uber has a new personalized home screen according to usage, as well as integrating the company’s services in one place (such as Uber Eats, for example).
We’ve simplified the homescreen experience so you can book rides and Uber Eats deliveries more easily, with fewer taps, right from the get-go. We also added a new “Services” tab as a one stop shop to find all of the rides and delivery offerings available in your city
To access the new features, simply update the Uber app to the latest version.
