Adobe Lightroom Update Gives a Preview of What’s Coming in iOS 18

Adobe announced on Tuesday (21) a series of significant updates to its photo editing app Lightroom, bringing advanced artificial intelligence features to iPhone, iPad, Mac, and other platforms.

These updates not only demonstrate the power of artificial intelligence (AI) in the field of image editing but also anticipate trends that we will likely see natively incorporated into iOS 18 in September.

One of the main new features is Generative Remove, a tool that uses Adobe’s Firefly technology to enable the removal of unwanted objects in photos with just one click.

This feature not only eliminates the object but also seamlessly fills the removed area, generating incredibly realistic and high-quality results.

It is a remarkable improvement over the existing object removal tools, promising to transform how we deal with imperfections in images.

Another highlight is the Blur, which makes it easy to apply aesthetic blur effects to photos. With just one click, users can create artistic blur, enhancing the depth and focus of images intuitively and quickly.

Lightroom now offers instant access to photo libraries, both in the mobile and desktop versions, speeding up the editing process. Additionally, the new mobile editing experience reorganizes the toolbar to prioritize the most popular functionalities, making editing faster and more intuitive.

These features are available for iOS, Android, Mac, web, and PC users, with AI technology being powered by Adobe’s “Firefly 1” model, still in early access.

However, there is a catch.

All these new features are only available to those with an Adobe subscription. If that’s not your case, you will have to wait until September to use these features for free directly in iOS 18.

At least that’s what rumors claim, which expect this type of image manipulation feature to be available directly in the system.
